"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
I don't know who all follows this blog, but some of you know that my mom has been battling cancer for the past 1 1/2 years. She is nearing the end of her life now, and our family has been surrounding her with our love. I know she is in God's hands and although it may not be what I want or understand, I know God has a plan for our good. The dying process is a horrible thing, but I know she has a better place ready for her. Thank you for your prayers!
"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" There are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!"
And that is dying."
~Henry Van Dyke
"Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean."
~David Searls
This visual picture of death is a comfort and help to me.
